Celtic are reportedly interested in signing Edson Alvarez, and Pedro Caixinha may not mind seeing the back of him.

According to Mexican outlet Record, Celtic are amongst the sides that are interested in signing Mexico international Edson Alvarez, but the Hoops are yet to table an offer for the Club America star.
Alvarez is an extremely exciting prospect, capable of playing in a variety of positions including centre-back and holding midfield. The 21-year-old was included in Mexico’s squad at the World Cup and went on to start all four of their games in Russia, including the defeat to Brazil in the last 16.
It appears that he could soon be on his way to Europe. Record reports that he is attracting attention across the continent, but only names Celtic as a team that are monitoring his progress.
Record adds that Club America are yet to receive a bid for the youngster. But with January just around the corner, perhaps that situation could soon change.

And if Celtic are one of the teams to make a move and the Hoops manage to bring him to Parkhead, he would already be a very popular figure as his most recent appearance saw the versatile defender inspire a 2-0 win against Pedro Caixinha’s Cruz Azul.
Alvarez had scored two goals in 69 league appearances for his club before Monday’s clash. But he managed to double his career tally with both goals in the win that denied Caixinha the 2018 Apertura title.
