Celtic could move for Preston’s Alex Neil this summer.

According to the Daily Mail, Celtic are considering a summer move for Preston North End boss Alex Neil.

The Bhoys saw Brendan Rodgers leave on Tuesday evening, trading in his ‘dream job’ at Parkhead for a move back to the Premier League.

Rodgers’ rapid exit left many stunned, but at least Celtic moved quickly; they brought back former boss Neil Lennon until the end of the season, and he’s won two out of two so far.

Lennon will be looking to put himself in contention for the permanent job, but Celtic will also look to other candidates – and Preston’s Neil appears to be on the wish list.

The Daily Mail report that Celtic are considering a move for Neil this summer, having been impressed with his work at Deepdale.

The 37-year-old took Preston desperately close to the play-offs last season, and has now suffered defeat just four times in his last 25 league games with the Lilywhites whilst developing the likes of Ben Pearson, Alan Browne and Callum Robinson into top players.

Neil has rebuilt his reputation following his 2017 sacking at Norwich, but whether Celtic fans would be appeased with a move for the ex-Hamilton boss is another matter.

He was though born in Bellshill, just nine miles from Celtic’s Parkhead stadium, and a return to Scotland may be appealing this summer.
