Celtic are reportedly showing interest in Newcastle defender Chancel Mbemba.

According to reports from FootDRC, Newcastle United defender Chancel Mbemba has been touted with a potential move to Celtic in the January transfer window.
The 23-year-old defender joined the Magpies in 2015 from Belgian club Anderlecht, and has made nine Premier League appearances this season, clocking 672 minutes of action.

According to reports from Voetbalkrant.com, his former club is also keen to bring him back to Belgium.
Central defence is one of the areas where Brendan Rodgers is looking to bolster, and Mbemba would be a good signing for the Bhoys. The report claims that the DR Congo defender, who has 38 international caps to his name, would cost around £9 million.

Celtic have already signed Marvin Compper, and could be looking to add one more central defender before the window ends, but Mbemba is not the one they are looking at.
