According to The Scottish Sun, Celtic could make a move for Leicester City central defender Filip Benkovic.

It has been reported that sources are saying that a loan move from Celtic for the 23-year-old defender is ‘a possibility’.

However, according to the report, defending Scottish Premiership champions Celtic have yet to make an approach for the Croatia international, who was described as “an exciting young player” by then Leicester manager Claude Puel on the club’s official website in August 2018.

Current Leicester manager Brendan Rodgers himself has told The Daily Record that the youngster could return to Celtic on a loan deal this month.

Back to Celtic?

Benkovic had a loan spell at Celtic from Leicester in the 2018-19 and played well, helping the Hoops win the Scottish Premiership, the Scottish League Cup and the Scottish Cup that season.

With Christopher Jullien out for the next four months due to injury, as reported by The Scottish Sun, Celtic manager Neil Lennon does need a new centre-back, and a move for the 23-year-old on a short-term deal would make sense.

The 23-year-old centre-back has been recalled by Leicester from his loan spell at Cardiff City.
