According to The Scottish Sun, Celtic are looking to buy Southampton goalkeeper Fraser Forster rather than pursue another loan deal.
It’s claimed that talks so far have surrounded a loan move, but Celtic are looking into a permanent deal – and whether they can afford it.
Forster still has another two years on his Southampton deal, but their desire to offload the 32-year-old means Celtic are ramping up a move.
Forster allegedly wants to be at Celtic next season to push for another league title, and the talks with Southampton may actually be a double deal.
Winger Mohamed Elyounoussi – who also spent this season on loan at Celtic – is believed to be a part of the talks, with the Bhoys no doubt keen to land him permanently or at least on loan again.
Whilst Southampton want Celtic midfielder Olivier Ntcham, it’s currently unclear whether he will be involved in a two-for-one deal.

With the global pandemic impacting budgets around the world, swap deals may become more appealing this summer, with Southampton and Celtic’s strong relationship possibly opening up that possibility.
Southampton are unlikely to view Ntcham as being worth the same as Forster and Elyounoussi combined, but there is a real chance for the two clubs to strike a part-exchange deal.
