According to Tuttosport, Celtic have entered into discussions with AC Milan over a permanent deal for Diego Laxalt.
The 24-cap Uruguay international has spend the campaign on loan at Celtic Park, where he has impressed with his tenacious tackling and desire.
Laxalt even broke a European record against LOSC Lille earlier this term, racking up an astonishing 13 tackles against the French side.
Tuttosport claim that the South American has convinced Celtic to sign him permanently with his performances.
The Italian news outlet also state that discussions are taking place which could see Celtic sign the 28-year-old for a discounted fee.
Laxalt has made 24 appearances in what has been a strange debut campaign in Glasgow for the Uruguayan.
The former Inter Milan man has had to bed into a new country amid a time where Celtic just couldn’t get going, and were forced to watch Rangers run away with the title.
Laxalt has also had to experience the departures of Neil Lennon and Scott Brown, while Peter Lawwell also announced his exit during the full-back’s stay.
In that respect, it’s safe to say that this has been an eventful loan spell for the AC Milan man!
Amid the chaos, Laxalt has given a good account of himself.
He earned the approval of Chris Sutton early on, who described him as ‘very good’ back in October 22nd, just days after he arrived on October 5th.
If Celtic can agree a reasonable fee with AC Milan, the Bhoys should definitely bring him to Celtic Park permanently.
