Report: Celtic hopeful of beating Rangers to Harry Wilson deal

Glasgow Rangers had hoped to bring Harry Wilson to Ibrox, but it appears that their Scottish Premiership rivals are optimistic regarding a potential deal.

According to a report from The Scottish Sun, Celtic are hopeful that they can see off competition from Rangers and bring Harry Wilson on loan to Parkhead for the coming season after joining Steven Gerrard’s men in the race to sign the attacker.

Wilson appears to be one of the most exciting talents threatening to break through at Liverpool currently. He was superb out on loan at Hull last season, scoring seven goals in just 13 Championship appearances. Unsurprisingly, the Tigers reportedly want him back this summer.

The Scottish Sun reports that Liverpool are set to agree fresh terms with the Wales international, but then plan to send him out for the coming campaign – and Gerrard is reportedly hoping that he can use his connections to bring the winger to Ibrox ahead of his first season in charge of the Gers.

However, The Scottish Sun adds that Celtic are interested in snatching him from under their rivals’ noses and are actually hopeful that they will be the ones who will win the race to land Wilson.

It will certainly be a major boost for either of the Scottish Premiership sides if they manage to sign Wilson ahead of the coming year. The youngster showed at Hull that he is capable of scoring and creating goals, and Liverpool’s desire to tie him down to a new deal highlights just how high their hopes are for his future.

He would certainly be an asset for either Celtic or Rangers, and joining one would perhaps see the Bhoys or Gers land a decent psychological blow ahead of the new season. And it appears that Celtic feel that they may be in the driving seat to be the ones to land that psychological blow.
