Celtic are reportedly hoping to keep hold of Moussa Dembele, but still held talks with the Ligue 1 side about a potential deal.

The Daily Mirror reported last summer that the Bhoys were one of the sides interested in signing Mariano Diaz as he continued to impress in Real Madrid’s ranks. Ultimately however, he would leave Los Blancos to join Lyon – but could now be on the move again.
L’Equipe adds that the Hoops have held talks with Lyon about a potential sale, and while they would have been open to the idea of letting the former Fulham ace leave, the club are now determined to hold onto the Frenchman in the final days of the window.

It would be a real blow for Celtic to lose Dembele at this stage of the window. Brendan Rodgers is well stocked when it comes to strikers, but Dembele is arguably his best option up front when the 22-year-old is at the top of his game.
And as there is little time left in the window, Celtic would do a remarkable job of adequately replacing Dembele if they decided to surprise everyone and sanction a sale. It appears unlikely at this stage, of course, but the Hoops fans may perhaps only relax once the deadline has passed.
