Celtic have now made contact with Rodrigo Riquelme, according to Mundo Deportivo.
Riquelme, who has a £26 million release clause built into his contract (Marca), has under a year left on his current deal with Atletico Madrid now.
And the Bhoys are already said to have made contact with the youngster, who they are keen to sign.
It is not clear whether Celtic are trying to land Riquelme on a permanent deal or a loan at this stage.
The report claims that if the prospect does pen a new deal with Atletico then Diego Simeone’s side would be happy to send him out on loan for a year.

If Riquelme was to sign for Celtic he would be an intriguing addition for the Bhoys.
The youngster, who can operate in the wide areas or as a number 10, is renowned for his ability in possession and he would really increase the creative options available to Neil Lennon.
