According to Sportime, Celtic have fended off interest from Sheffield United and Real Betis to win the race for AEK Athens goalkeeper Vassilis Barkas.
The 26-year-old shot-stopper is one of AEK’s most prized assets right now.
According to The Glasgow Evening Times, Celtic are expected to sign him in the coming days.

The Bhoys reportedly raised their bid for Barkas to £5million, and they have reached an agreement with AEK after including a potential sell-on clause.
Barkas is said to be travelling to Scotland today to sign his deal, and for AEK they will pocket a record transfer sale should it all go through.
It’s will be a real coup for Celtic, and more so considering the competition for his signature.
Sportime claim Real Betis and Leeds were also keen, while the latest club to show an interest came from Premier League surprise package Sheffield United.
The Blades enjoyed a terrific campaign in the top-flight, posting a top ten finish.
Chris Wilder’s men had one of the meanest defences in the Premier League this past season, with goalkeeper Dean Henderson playing a huge role in their success.
But Henderson now returns to Manchester United following his loan.
The Blades have made no secret of their desire to re-sign the player. But, without certainty, it seems the Yorkshire club have drawn up a list of potential alternatives.
Sportime say Barkas was in their sights. However, Celtic have made their move, and after two proposals the Scottish Premiership Champions are set to sign him.
