Celtic have reportedly failed with a bid for Hibernian midfielder John McGinn.

According to The Scottish Sun, Celtic have failed with their first bid for Hibernian midfielder John McGinn, with a £1.5million offer rejected this evening.
The Bhoys have tied up one deal so far this summer having snapped up Odsonne Edouard on a permanent deal from Paris Saint-Germain, but manager Brendan Rodgers is back in for more signings this summer.
Celtic sold midfielder Stuart Armstrong to Southampton last week, and the Bhoys now appear to be in the market for a replacement – and their preferred target is one of Armstrong’s international teammates.

The Scottish Sun report that Celtic have offered £1.5million for Hibernian talent John McGinn, but Hibs have immediately turned the offer down as they look to keep him at Easter Road.
The report also suggests that whilst some thought Scott Allan – who spent the second half of last season on loan with Hibs – would be included, no talks have taken place about a part-exchange deal.
Hibs valued McGinn at around £5million last summer, and whilst he has just 12 months left on his contract and Hibs’ position has been somewhat weakened, Celtic will clearly have to get closer to that amount to land the midfielder.

McGinn, 23, joined Hibs from St Mirren in 2015, and he has become the heartbeat of Neil Lennon’s midfield, racking up more than 130 appearances whilst bagging 16 goals.
With nine caps for Scotland, McGinn may well feel that his international chances may even improve with a move to Celtic, but it seems that there is plenty of work to do on a deal yet.
