Report: Celtic facing Derby County competition for Paddy McNair

Neil Lennon’s Celtic and Derby County reportedly want Paddy McNair of Middlesbrough.

According to The Daily Star, Celtic have made a move for Middlesbrough ace Paddy McNair, but Neil Lennon’s side are facing competition from Blackburn Rovers and Derby County.

It has been reported that Celtic have submitted an enquiry for the former Manchester United, who can operate as a defender or as a midfielder.

The report has also claimed that Sheffield United in the Premier League in England, Derby in the Championship and Blackburn are also interested in the 24-year-old.

Good signing for Celtic?

McNair is a very good player whose versatility is a boon, and the Northern Ireland international will be a smart signing for Celtic.

The 24-year-old joined Middlesbrough from Sunderland in the summer of 2018 for a transfer fee reported by Gazette Live to be worth £5 million.

The Northern Ireland international has not been great at Boro, but there is no doubt that he is a quality footballer who will do a good job in Scotland for Celtic.
