Brendan Rodgers is desperate to bring a defender to Celtic this summer.

German newspaper Bild have claimed that Celtic are planning a £7million move that would see Wolfsburg defender Jeffrey Bruma reunite with Hoops manager Brendan Rodgers before August 31.
Bruma, 26, played under Rodgers during the Northern Irish manager’s time in charge of Chelsea’s youth academy, and has since gone on to play for the likes of PSV Eindhoven, Hamburger SV and now Wolfsburg.
However, the report claims that the 25-time Netherlands international is “no longer needed” by the German club, who boast six central defenders including John Brooks, Robin Knoche, Marcel Tisserand and more.
It is believed that a fee of £7million would be rejected by Wolfsburg, but that would change if Bruma was interested in leaving the German outfit to move to the Scottish champions this summer.
Celtic are after a central defender after the saga surrounding Dedryck Boyata is likely to see the Belgium ace depart. The Hoops already required a centre-back before that, with doubts over the displays of Jack Hendry and Jozo Simunovic.

It remains to be seen where Bruma stands on a Rodgers reunion and a move to Scottish football, though a chance to play in the Europa League could prove tempting after Wolfsburg missed out on Europe – almost getting relegated instead.
The two-time Dutch champions has three years remaining on his contract, but it is clear that he is surplus to requirements after being left out of Wolfsburg’s 18-man squad that beat Elversberg 1-0 on the weekend.
