Celtic are interested in signing Joel Randall from Exeter City in the January transfer window, according to The Athletic.

It has been reported that Scottish Premiership giants Celtic and Swansea City in the Championship in England have expressed interest in Randall.

Described by his manager Matt Taylor as “a constant threat down that left side, worked tirelessly for the team and contributed at all times this season” and as “a standout player” who has “exceeded our expectations” in the report in The Athletic, it has been claimed that the English midfielder could cost £1.5 million in transfer fees.

Rising star

Randall is a very talented and promising young player who is doing well for Exeter at the moment.

The 21-year-old English midfielder has been out on loan at Taunton Town, Bideford, Weston-super-Mare and Weymouth in recent years, but this season he has come into his own and has established himself as an important player for the Grecians.

According to WhoScored, the youngster has made 18 starts and one substitute appearance in League Two for Exeter so far this season, scoring six goals and providing four assists in the process.

With Exeter in the running for the League Two playoffs, they may not be willing to sell one of their key players in the middle of the season.

Celtic, who have won the Scottish Premiership title for the past nine seasons, could do with freshening up their midfield.
