Celtic defender Mikael Lustig could reportedly be handed the chance to return to Sweden at the end of the season.

Lustig has made nearly 250 appearances in all competitions for the Bhoys since arriving in 2012 and there is no question that he has been a brilliant player for the club. But his form has been a little more underwhelming in recent months.
For some, the end of his current contract appears to be the right time for a change. It must be mentioned that there will be plenty who want Lustig to stay beyond his current deal given his experience and the lack of alternative options available to Brendan Rodgers.
But it appears that Lustig may be handed the chance to return to Sweden. FotbollDirekt reports that AIK are considering a move on a free transfer and the right-back is said to be interested in joining.

As things stand, it seems to be a risk to not keep Lustig – who earns £24,000-a-week, according to the Daily Star – at Celtic. Rodgers does not appear to have a huge amount of faith in Cristian Gamboa, and Anthony Ralston is yet to prove that he is ready to be a first-team regular.
But if Celtic manage to add a quality right-back to their ranks over the coming months, then the Hoops will arguably give themselves some leeway when it comes to deciding what they would like to do with Lustig’s future.
