Izaguirre has struggled since returning to Celtic in the summer.

Turkish outlet Fanatik have claimed that SuperLig side Goztepe have placed Celtic left-back Emilio Izaguirre on their January shortlist as they look to bring in a left-back this month.

The 32-year-old has managed just six Scottish Premiership appearances since re-signing for the Hoops in the summer, with five of those coming in Celtic’s last six games due to Kieran Tierney’s injury.

The Honduras international was hooked at half-time during the 4-3 win over Aberdeen, after a dismal first 45 minutes. He was then omitted from the 18-man squad that lost to Rangers, with Callum McGregor playing at left-back instead.

A six-time Scottish Premiership winner with Celtic, Izaguirre only signed a 12-month contract with Celtic in the summer and is now in the final months of that deal – meaning he is available on a free in the summer.

It means non-Scottish clubs can land Izaguirre on a pre-contract agreement under the Bosman ruling, and that may see Turkish side Goztepe look to sign him for nothing – in a deal that would see Izaguirre leave in the summer.

But if Goztepe want to sign Izaguirre this month, they will have to part with a transfer fee to land the experienced left-back, who has clocked up 261 career appearances with the Hoops.

It remains to be seen if Celtic will be willing to part with the Honduran, but after his performance against Aberdeen, Brendan Rodgers may allow him to leave.
