Cristian Gamboa endured a somewhat frustrating campaign personally with Celtic.
Celtic’s Cristian Gamboa could leave this summer
A report in the Scottish Herald has suggested that Cristian Gamboa could leave Celtic this summer after a fairly frustrating first season with the Hoops.
The Scottish Herald reports that the Hoops brought the Costa Rica international in during Brendan Rodgers’ first transfer window for a fee of £1 million from West Bromwich Albion.

But unlike the likes of Moussa Dembele and Scott Sinclair following their summer arrivals, Gamboa struggled to make a major impression at Parkhead, making just 21 appearances in all competitions for the Hoops as he struggled to displace Mikael Lustig in the side’s defence.
Unfortunately for the 27-year-old, it appears that he is resigned to the fact that he may have to move elsewhere to find regular first-team football, with the Scottish Herald suggesting that he could leave during the coming months.

It would arguably be a blow if Gamboa did leave this summer. Although he will want to forget his Bhoys debut – playing in the 7-0 defeat to Barcelona in the Champions League – he seemed to bounce back and do quite well when he was subsequently given opportunities.
And it could certainly be argued that the current depth that Celtic boast at right-back – just as they do at left-back also – is the kind of depth they should be striving to have across the pitch as they look to make more of an impact in Europe next season.
