Celtic are reportedly hoping to bring Hibernian loanee Scott Bain to Parkhead during the final hours of the January transfer window.

According to a report from the Daily Record, Celtic could try and use Hibernian’s interest in Scott Allan to boost their chances of signing Scott Bain during the final hours of the January transfer window.

The Hoops’ priorities in the market appear to have changed in recent days with Craig Gordon suffering an injury that has left Brendan Rodgers looking for a new goalkeeper before tonight’s deadline.

Bain is one player that they have looked at. The 26-year-old is currently on loan at Easter Road from Dundee, but is yet to make an appearance for Neil Lennon’s side – hence why he would be able to make another move this month.

Interestingly, the Record adds that Hibs are themselves interested in signing Allan from Celtic. However, the 26-year-old is also currently out on loan, with Bain’s parent club Dundee taking him in the summer.

The Record suggests that Celtic may send Allan to Hibernian on loan as part of the deal that would see Bain head to Parkhead, but Dundee would expect to be compensated given that their loanee may head to a Scottish Premiership rival.

It is a bizarre situation involving the three clubs during the final hours of the window. But it appears that all three could find reaching some agreement beneficial heading into the final months of the campaign.
