Dedryck Boyata has been linked with a move away from Celtic.
According to Herald Scotland, Celtic are planning to speak to Dedryck Boyata over a contract extension when he returns to pre-season training.
The Celtic centre-back helped Belgium to a third-placed finish in this summer’s World Cup in Russia.
The 27-year-old enhanced his reputation with a number of very impressive showings at the heart of the Red Devils’ defence.
In doing so, Boyata, whose existing contract expires next July, courted interest from Fulham and Lazio [The Sun].
However, Celtic are planning to re-open negotiations with the former Manchester City man once he returns from his summer break, according to Herald Scotland.
But the Scottish outlet adds that manager Brendan Rodgers could sell Boyata – worth a potential £7 million [Radio Sei] – if the Hoops boss feels that he is “stalling” over extending his contract.
As proven in recent weeks, Boyata is a top defender on his day, but he endured more than his fair share of hairy moments in a Celtic shirt last season and it puts the Bhoys in an awkward position: sell while his value is at an all-time high, or keep in the hope that he tidys up his game under Rodgers.
