Celtic will beat West Ham United and West Bromwich Albion to the signature of Brighton and Hove Albion central defender Shane Duffy, according to The Daily Mail.

Despite interest from Premier League clubs West Ham and West Brom, Celtic have held positive talks with Brighton, according to the report, which has added that last night they were ‘edging towards a successful conclusion’.

The report has added that Celtic could complete the signing of the central defender on a season-long loan deal by the middle of this week.

Good signing for Celtic?

Duffy is a very experienced and no-nonsense defender who will make Celtic a better team defensively.

The Hoops have not been great at the back so far this season, and the Glasgow giants could do with strengthening in that particular department.

Duffy may have fallen down the pecking order at Brighton in recent times, but he remains a very good player who will make an immediate impact on the team at Celtic, who are aiming to make it 10 Scottish Premiership titles in a row this season.
