Swansea City defender Joe Rodon is reportedly attracting interest from Celtic and Manchester City.
Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola
According to The Sun, Celtic and Manchester City are both interested in signing Swansea City defender Joe Rodon ahead of the January transfer window.
Swansea have the likes of Mike van der Hoorn, Alfie Mawson, Kyle Bartley and Federico Fernandez available at centre back, but they also have a youngster coming up through the ranks in Rodon.
Rodon, 19, has come up through the ranks with hometown club Swansea having joined the club back in 2005, though he has yet to make his first-team debut for the club.
Celtic manager Brendan Rodgers
A Welsh youth international having been capped by the Under-20’s and Under-21’s, Rodon has been touted for a bright future, and that appears to have attracted major interest.
The Sun report that Manchester City are interested in landing Rodon, whilst Celtic are also keeping tabs on him ahead of a possible move during the January transfer window.
Rodon has been compared to City defender John Stones, and with Pep Guardiola looking for talented young British players, he could make a move for Swans Under-23 captain Rodon in 2018.

Whilst City would be aiming to purchase Rodon, it’s claimed that Celtic – who have been watching Rodon in youth action – would be looking to take the teenager on loan in January to boost their defensive options.
Brendan Rodgers may ultimately want to raid his former club to sign Rodon permanently in the future, but a loan spell at Celtic to give him first-team football before a full-time move could be Celtic’s preferred route; though whether Swansea would be open to such an arrangement remains to be seen.
