According to the Daily Mail, Celtic are weighing up a new bid for Eupen attacker Henry Onyekuru, having failed with a bid during the January transfer window.

The Bhoys clinched an unbeaten domestic season on Saturday afternoon, beating Aberdeen 2-1 in the Scottish Cup final to give Brendan Rodgers a remarkable treble in his first season as Celtic manager.

Whilst Celtic have continued their dominance of Scottish football, manager Rodgers will want to strengthen his squad this summer, with Champions League hopes at the forefront of Celtic’s thoughts.

Now, the Daily Mail claim that Celtic are considering a new move to land Eupen forward Henry Onyekuru, with the Nigerian a long-term target for manager Rodgers.

Onyekuru, 19, joined Eupen from the Aspire Academy in 2015, and after helping the club win promotion to the Jupiler Pro League last season, he has excelled in the top flight this term.

Onyekuru, who can play out wide or up front, has hit 24 goals in 41 appearances in all competitions this season, becoming one of the most in-demand players in Belgian football.

As reported by The Scottish Sun in January, Celtic failed with a £1million move for Onyekuru, and they will now have to meet his £6.8million release clause to land him this season, with Arsenal, Brighton and Swansea all interested too.

Celtic will hope that regular playing time – with loan winger Patrick Roberts heading back to Manchester City this summer – can help them win the race for Onyekuru, with Rodgers seemingly considering a new move for the pacey goalscorer.
