According to the Daily Record, Neil McGuinness could be a surprise target fro Celtic in their hunt for a director of football.
Neil Lennon left his post as Celtic boss in February, and with no replacement landed yet, many are focusing their attention on a new boss.
Yet Celtic also want to hire a new director of football, with the likes of Fergal Harkin, David Webb and Matteo Tognozzi all linked.
This new report suggests that there could actually be another name in the mix though, and it’s a former Celtic man.
McGuinness is thought to be an option for the role, having previously been a Celtic scout – and one credited with bringing Virgl van Dijk to Parkhead.
McGuinness spend six years with Celtic before leaving to join the Aspire Academy, and taking up a role as director of scouting at MLS side Columbus Crew in 2019.

They are one of the top MLS sides and won the MLS Cup Playoffs last season, with McGuinness’s work helping bring a title back to Ohio.
His work seemingly hasn’t gone unnoticed, and Celtic may yet look to bring him back in their director of football role, which would surely appeal.
