According to The Scottish Sun, Celtic have pondered moves for Steve Clarke and Martin O’Neill as they consider life after Neil Lennon.
It’s claimed that O’Neill wants a return to management, and that could put Celtic on red alert – even though he would prefer a job in England.
The 68-year-old is a Celtic legend from his first spell in charge, and the Bhoys have allegedly considered bringing him back.
Whether O’Neill would want to take Lennon’s job is another matter; he coached the Northern Irishman at Leicester City and Celtic, so taking his job may be a tricky situation.
The report adds that Celtic have also considered Steve Clarke, but he has now taken Scotland to the European Championships and may not want to move.
Paul Lambert is another name Celtic have considered, but he is under contract at Ipswich Town, meaning the Bhoys would have to pay compensation.
Celtic have publicly backed Neil Lennon, and he did claim a 3-2 win over Lille on Thursday night, so he will now hope for a real turnaround of fortunes.
His future is unclear though, and Celtic are seemingly eyeing up potential replacements in O’Neill, Clarke and Lambert.
