Celtic are reportedly closing in on Manchester United’s Lee O’Connor.

According to the Daily Record, Celtic are chasing a late deal to sign Manchester United defender Lee O’Connor ahead of tonight’s transfer deadline.
The Bhoys are chasing a couple of signings before the deadline, and whilst Kilmarnock’s Greg Taylor is the main focus, O’Connor is wanted too.
It’s claimed that Celtic want a young right back, and whilst Manchester City’s Jeremie Frimpong is a target, O’Connor is now a top target for the Bhoys.
The 19-year-old is thought to be closing in on a move to Parkhead, after spending three years in the Manchester United setup.
O’Connor can play at right back, centre back or left back, meaning he’s a versatile performer who could be very valuable in the future.
O’Connor would be reuniting with Celtic striker Jonathan Afolabi if he makes the move, as the pair play for the Republic of Ireland Under-19’s together.

This would be another case of Celtic looking to the future, having brought in Luca Connell, Tobi Oluwayemi, Leo Hjelde, Liam Burt and Afolabi as players for the development squad.
O’Connor would seemingly be with the same idea in mind, and fans will be hoping he’s a little better than the last right back Celtic signed from United given Saidy Janko’s struggles at Parkhead.
