Celtic are reportedly interested in signing the goalkeeper prospect from their Scottish Premiership rivals, but face Premier League competition.

According to a report from the Daily Record, Celtic are interested in signing Hearts prospect Harry Stone, but the Hoops will have to see off competition from a Watford side that are ‘confident’ that they will be the ones to secure the teenager’s signature.

Stone is the latest academy prospect to look out for at Tynecastle. He is yet to make his senior debut for Craig Levein’s men, but the 16-year-old will be eligible to sign his first professional contract later this month, according to the Record.

However, it appears that he may not be on Hearts’ books for much longer. The Daily Record reports that both Celtic and Watford are keen on signing the youngster, with the Hornets confident of winning the race to land Stone.

The Scottish Premiership champions have a lot of depth between the sticks. But with Craig Gordon and Dorus De Vries well into the twilight of their careers, there may soon be an opportunity for one of the younger stoppers to get themselves into the first-team picture.

The likes of Conor Hazard and Ross Doohan will be hoping to prove that their long-term futures lie at Parkhead. But Stone’s arrival would certainly put their positions under threat.

The Premier League attention suggests that Stone has got a very bright future ahead of him, and it would be a huge coup for Celtic to go on and add him to their ranks – especially as Watford are reportedly optimistic that he may end up Vicarage Road-bound.
