Eredivisie strugglers ADO Den Haag are ready to sell Celtic target Milan van Ewijk for a bargain £650,000 in the summer transfer window, as reported by AD

Now, there are a number of reasons why the right-back is available for such a lowball fee – and it has nothing to do with his ability.

In short, Van Ewijk is out of contract in 2022. For ADO, £650,000 is better than nothing.

Furthermore, with Ruud Brood’s side bottom of the Eredivisie – six points from safety with just three games remaining – ADO know Van Ewijk is unlikely to stick around and play against the likes of Helmon Sport, Oss and PSV’s reserves next season.

Especially when he has offers on the table from the likes of Celtic, Hamburg and a recently relegated yet still sizeable Schalke (Voetbal International).

AD reports Van Ewijk’s price tag currently stands at £650,000.

Heerenveen have made an offer of about £400,000 and, while that won’t be enough to seal the deal, the Frisian-based outfit has been given the green light to enter negotiations with the full-back’s camp.

“(The transfer speculation) is a reward for the good games I have played this season. At the end of the season, I will see what happens,” Van Ewijk told Omroep West a few weeks ago.

“The situation is, if ADO are relegated it may be necessary to sell players. Then they can use the money to get other players or maybe let youth players move up.”

Van Ewijk would be tasked with replacing Everton loanee Jonjoe Kenny should Celtic fight off some serious competition for his signature.
