Celtic have reportedly beaten Monaco to the signing of Kouassi Eboue.

According to The Express, Celtic have beat competition from Monaco to close in on a deal for Krasnodar midfielder Kouassi Eboue.

The Bhoys are coasting towards the Scottish Premiership title having dropped just two points so far this season, but manager Brendan Rodgers remains keen on adding new faces to his squad.

Celtic may have seen Stuart Armstrong thrive under Rodgers this season, but the Bhoys manager has been looking to bring in a new midfielder – and a deal for one is believed to be close.

The Express report that, pending a work permit, Celtic will strike a four-year deal with Kouassi Eboue after agreeing a £2.8million fee with his club Krasnodar.

Eboue, 19, has impressed for the Russian outfit over the last year, and his performances in Russia and in the Europa League have convinced Celtic to make a move to land the Ivorian midfielder, with Rodgers believed to be the deciding factor for the midfielder.

The report adds that Celtic have beat off competition from Champions League side Monaco, who were looking to add Eboue ahead of their clash with Manchester City, in case star midfielder Tiemoue Bakayoko left the club for Chelsea.

Belgian side Genk were also keen to land Eboue, but Celtic should complete their move for the midfielder over the coming week, in a move that Rodgers may view as a coup given how many other European sides also wanted him.

With his agent Yves Amagbegnon claiming that Eboue is similar to Tottenham ace and former Celtic star Victor Wanyama, Bhoys fans should be excited to see the youngster in action – though he may be one for the future rather than an instant star at Celtic Park.
