Old Firm rivals Celtic and Rangers are looking to sign French midfielder Aliou Traore from Manchester United this summer, according to France Football.

Fleet of foot and blessed with an explosive turn of pace, there are certainly a few simiarlities between this Old Trafford starlet and his gold-clad namesake.

Unlike Adama Traore, however, the former Paris Saint-Germain youngster is yet to make his mark in the Premier League.

And with Paul Pogba, Bruno Fernandes, Scott McTominay and more all ahead of him in Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s pecking order, Traore may be forced to turn his back on another of Europe’s biggest clubs this summer.

19-year-old Traore would certainly find regular first-team football much easier to come by north of the border with France Football reporting that Celtic and Rangers are both interested.

The teenager has produced six goals in 16 games for Man United’s U23 side this season, earning comparisons with Paul Pogba thanks to his long-range rockets and an ability to breeze past opposition players with ease.

“He is a really powerful midfielder who likes to run box to box. He is very strong technically and is improving all the time,” United coach Kieran McKenna said after Traore arrived from Paris, while Old Trafford legend Nicky Butt described him as ‘tremendously gifted’.

Celtic have a history when it comes to snapping up highly-rated United starlets too. Lee O’Connor, the Irish defender, swapped Manchester for Glasgow just last summer.

And if Parkhead is his destination, Traore will be hoping to follow in the footsteps of another ex-PSG talent – SPFA Player of the Year Odsonne Edouard.
