According to Fotospor, Celtic and Rangers were both willing to pay £5 million to sign Bright Osayi-Samuel from QPR in January.
The 23-year-old had just six months remaining on his deal with Mark Warburton’s side, leaving QPR in a difficult negotiating position.
Eventually, the Nigerian opted to join Mesut Özil at Fenerbahce, which isn’t the daftest thing for an attacking player to do.
However, it is interesting to see how much Celtic and Rangers were happy to part with to sign the rapid forward.
Since moving to Turkey, Osayi-Samuel has registered one assist in seven Süper Lig games, and is yet to score for the Turkish giants.
Nevertheless, he was a shrewd signing, and one who would’ve surely been a huge success over in Glasgow.

The Okija-born forward netted three goals and recorded three assists for QPR this term before leaving, having racked up 15 goal involvements last season in the shape of six goals and nine assists.
Premier League side Crystal Palace were also keen on him, according to TEAMtalk.
He is a real handful for defenders with his pace and directness, so much so that Warburton – who once managed Rangers – called him ‘dangerous’ back in November.

West London Sport quote the 58-year-old as saying: “He looked very good tonight. He looked dangerous and was a constant threat. The people above my pay grade are still talking. If someone wants to buy him I’m sure they can – every player in the world has got a price.”
It’s a shame that we weren’t able to see what the Nigerian could do in Glasgow.
However, he is still young, so there’s plenty of time for him to move to the Scottish Premiership in future.
