Union Berlin want £5 million for star striker Sebastian Andersson with Celtic and Brighton and Hove Albion interested in the Sweden international, according to reports from Scandinavia.

Is there a single Bundesliga player better in the air than this late-blooming Swede? While the likes of Robert Lewandowski would have something to say about that, the sight of Andersson leaping like a salmon to connect with an inch-perfect set-piece will have goalkeepers all over Germany quaking in their gloves.

The iron-headed targetman has scored 12 Bundesliga goals in 2019/20 alone – and seven of those have bounced in off his bonce.

So if or when Andersson bids farewell to Union Berlin at the end of the season, arguably the smallest club in Germany’s top-flight will have an almost impossible task replacing a man who’s heroics have kept them above the relegation zone so far.

Expressen claims that Brighton are interested.

Graham Potter’s Seagulls play some of the tidiest and prettiest football in the Premier League but it’s fair to say they are missing the ruthless streak that Andersson would provide. A powerful, 6ft 3ins number nine in the Glen Murray mould, he would provide a viable Plan B at a club who can often look far too predictable.

Celtic are interested too, according to Fotbol Skanalen. And, with his strength in the air, Andersson could be something of a Chris Sutton-like foil to the Henrik Larsson-esque Odsonne Edouard – should the Frenchman stick around of course.

Andersson signed a new contract with Union Berlin recently but, with funds drying up all over the Bundesliga, they may be forced to sell if a £5 million bid is made.
