Celtic are reportedly set to sign defender Hatem Abd Elhamed.
According to Walla in Israel, Celtic are poised to sign Hapoel Be’er Sheva defender Hatem Abd Elhamed after agreeing a €2million (£1.8million) deal.
The Bhoys have added one centre back this summer in Christopher Jullien, but another option has been wanted to add further competition alongside Kristoffer Ajer and Nir Bitton.
A host of players have been linked, and one such player is former Gent defender Abd Elhamed, who is currently back in his native Israel with Hapoel Be’er Sheva.
It’s now claimed that Celtic have had a €2million (£1.8million) bid accepted for the 28-year-old, with an extra €300,000 (£270,000) to be paid if the Bhoys reach the Champions League group stage.
Abd Elhamed will seemingly complete his move to Celtic imminently, handing Neil Lennon another option in the heart of his defence.
Abd Elhamed has just one international cap, and his career has been somewhat nomadic having turned out for Maccabi Tel Aviv, Charleroi, Ashdod, Dinamo Bucharest, Gent and now Be’er Sheva.
There may well be a familiar face involved in the deal, as Abd Elhamed is represented by agent Dudu Dahan, who has a close relationship with Celtic boss Lennon.
Dahan supplied Lennon with the likes of Rami Gershon, Beram Kayal, Efe Ambrose, Nir Bitton and Amido Balde during his first spell as Celtic boss, as well as goalkeeper Ofir Marciano at Hibernian.
The pair appear to have a close relationship, and with Dahan involved in the Abd Elhamed move, we should expect to see his Celtic switch confirmed soon if these reports in Israel are true.
