Tom Rogic was expected to leave Celtic during the summer transfer window but the arrival of Ange Postecoglou as Neil Lennon’s replacement could change all that, according to The Athletic.
Although it would still be a major surprise if Odsonne Edouard, Kristoffer Ajer and Olivier Ntcham are still wearing green and white when the new Scottish Premiership season kicks off in August, the future of Celtic’s mercurial midfielder feels far less certain.
At 28, and with a series of niggling injuries restricting his influence, all the signs suggested that Brendan Rodgers ‘Magic Man’ had to pull a rabbit out of the hat if he wanted to keep his waning Celtic career alive.
But if Rogic needed a miracle, the arrival of a straight-talking Australian as the club’s new manager feels like a stroke of divine intervention.
Will Ange Postecoglou save Tom Rogic’s Celtic career?
Postecoglou, after all, is a big fan of the former Central Coast Mariners playmaker.
Many of Rogic’s 47 international caps bestowed to him by Postecoglou between 2013 and 2017. And the admiration between player and coach is very much mutual.
The latter, meanwhile, described the former as a ‘fantastic talent’ capable of producing moments of match-winning genius with his wand of a left foot (Daily Record).

According to The Athletic, a number of clubs in Asia – most likely China and Japan – were weighing up bids for the five-time Scottish Premiership champion, who remains one of the most naturally gifted footballer in the country regardless of his recent injury issues.
Rogic still has two years on his contract, however, and Postecoglou’s sudden and unexpected arrival might have just breathed fresh life into his Celtic career.
The long-serving dynamo could have a big part to play next term, especially if fellow play-maker Ryan Christie is lured south of the border.
