Gaetano Berardi is a transfer target for Serie A side Cagliari, according to reports in Italy.

Calcioweb and Gazzamercato both report Cagliari have expressed an interest in the full-back, who is on a shortlist of potential signings.

Cagliari won promotion back to the top flight last season, and are looking to add a new right-back, also considering players from Juventus, AC Milan, Sampdoria and Atalanta.

Swiss ace Berardi signed for Leeds from Sampdoria in 2014 and his all action style has seen him become one of the club’s most popular players.

Leeds owner Massimo Cellino previously owned Cagliari, but it remains to be seen if he will want to sell the defender.

Berardi has struggled with injuries over the past few months, but could have a vital role to play this season, especially if Charlie Taylor is sold, due to his ability to play at left-back.
