The Leeds United coach was reportedly wanted in Spain.
Carlos Corberan has decided to stay at Leeds United despite his initial interest in becoming the new manager of Cultural Leonesa, Cadena Ser reports.
Corberan, who is employed as Marcelo Bielsa’s first-team coach at Leeds, also managed the Whites’ Under-23s to last season’s Professional Development League title.
And that is said to have earned the Spaniard admiring glances back in his homeland, where Cultural will compete at third-tier level next term after relegation.
But it is now being claimed that Corberan won’t be the man to bring them back, which is likely to delight those of a Leeds persuasion.
Ironically, Leeds have a partnership with Cultural’s Qatari owners, Aspire, and have loaned Ouasim Bouy and Yosuke Ideguchi to them in recent years.
Corberan, who was brought to Elland Road by the former Whites boss Thomas Christiansen, has only ever held one senior managerial role, with the Cypriot side Ermis Aradippou FC.
The 36-year-old also coached at Villarreal, Ittihad, Alcorcon and Al-Nassr before Leeds.
