The former Swansea City and Sheffield Wednesday manager could make a comeback with Reading after Fulham appointed Claudio Ranieri instead.
The former Swansea City and Sheffield Wednesday manager Carlos Carvalhal is being considered by Reading after missing out on the Fulham job, according to the Daily Mail.
The newspaper claims Carvalhal had been on a three-man shortlist to succeed Slavisa Jokanovic at Fulham, before the position was filled by Claudio Ranieri, but adds that a comeback could still be on the cards with Reading.
The current Royals manager, Paul Clement, is said to be under pressure after the loss of key ally Ron Gourlay as CEO on Monday.
And having previously led Sheffield Wednesday to a play-off final and semi-final in his two full seasons in charge at Hillsborough, before falling just short of an unlikely survival with Swansea last term, Carvalhal would be an appealing choice to replace the 46-year-old he succeeded at the Liberty Stadium.
Another ex-Swansea manager, Frencesco Guidolin, has also been linked with the Reading post.
Some Sheffield Wednesday fans have called for Carvalhal’s return amid the Owls’ recent poor run.
