Newcastle United are interested in signing Matt Phillips from West Bromwich Albion in the summer transfer window, according to The Daily Mail.

Middlesbrough are also reported to be keen on securing the services of Phillips this summer, while Cardiff City are claimed to be plotting a £11 million bid for the 27-year-old, who can operate as a winger or as a striker.

Exit likely?

With West Brom having been relegated from the Premier League to the Championship at the end of last season, there is a chance that Phillips could decide to leave The Hawthorns in the summer transfer window.

The 27-year-old knows the Premier League well, and having played in the division, he could be tempted to carry on playing in the top flight of English football.

The Scotland international has been on the books of the Baggies since the summer of 2016 when he joined from Queens Park Rangers for a transfer fee reported by Sky Sports to be worth £5.5 million.
