New Cardiff City manager Neil Warnock has wasted no time getting to work, making his first signing within 48 hours of his time at the club.

Cardiff City have reportedly signed free agent Junior Hoilett even though new manager Neil Warnock has been at the club for less than 48 hours, as reported in the Sun.

Hoilett has been without a club since his contract with QPR expired in the summer and was thought to be holding out for an offer from a Premier League side.

But, according to the Sun, just 48 hours into his time at the Bluebirds, Warnock is ready to start making his mark by getting straight into the transfer market and has landed the pacey winger who is currently a free agent.

Hoilett made more than 100 appearances for QPR and netted six Championship goals last season as well as making international appearances for Canada.

As a youngster, the former Blackburn Rovers man was marked by FIFA as one of the young players to watch in 2012 but has been hampered with injury during his time at QPR.

The 26-year-old’s speed down the wing is an area Cardiff have struggled with and Warnock appears to have moved to sort this problem out immediately.

Warnock took over earlier in the week after former boss Paul Trollope was dismissed less than five months into his tenure at Cardiff City.

Under Trollope, the Bluebirds had only managed to scrape two wins from eleven games and will return from the international break second from bottom in the Championship.

Warnock said at his first press conference: “There is a little bit of work to be done with the squad. It’s decent but a bit lightweight in certain positions.

“We need to look one or two players in straight away.”
