According to the Daily Mail, Wolverhampton Wanderers have rejected Cardiff City’s attempts to take Dion Sanderson away from Sunderland.

Sanderson joined Sunderland on loan in October, but it hasn’t really gone to plan for him so far at the Stadium of Light.

The 21-year-old has started just four league games since making his move to Wearside, and Cardiff have now attempted to take over his loan.

Sanderson impressed with Cardiff in the second half of last season, but the Bluebirds ended up signing Jordi Osei-Tutu from Arsenal instead of bringing back Sanderson.

Cardiff tried to sign Sanderson, but Wolves have chosen to leave him at Sunderland – and Neil Harris is now looking to sign Crewe Alexandra’s Perry Ng.

Sanderson needs games to aid his development, and Wolves seemingly believe that he will still get the right playing time.

The right back clearly has talent, hence Cardiff’s desire to bring him back to the club, but Sunderland have now avoided losing him.

Lee Johnson needs to make sure that he starts, and Sanderson has started the last two games, which may well be why Wolves are allowing him to stay at Sunderland.
