Preston North End’s Greg Cunningham is said to be interesting Cardiff City.

Cardiff City boss Neil Warnock is eyeing a move for Preston North End left-back Greg Cunningham, the Daily Mirror reports [18 May, page 60].

Cunningham has been a Preston regular over the past two campaigns, scoring three goals and creating 11 in 90 appearances since his transfer from Bristol City.

And the Ireland international could be difficult to prise away from Deepdale, where he remains under contract until 2019.

Cardiff’s apparent interest is somewhat surprising, with former England Under-21 left-back Joe Bennett impressing in his first season in south Wales.

And unless he is given first team assurances, Cunningham is perhaps unlikely to fancy the move.

Preston finished above Cardiff on goal difference in this season’s Championship, although the Bluebirds were among the division’s top sides following Warnock’s October appointment.

Cunningham, 26, began his career at Manchester City, where he was a teammate of Cardiff midfielder Emyr Huws.
