The Cardiff City manager, Neil Warnock, will match the offer Real Betis have made for the Tottenham Hotspur striker, Vincent Janssen, according to the Sun.

The newspaper claims Betis were in pole position for Janssen’s signature, after opening talks with Spurs over a six-month loan deal containing a £15 million option to buy.

But Warnock is said to want to bolster Cardiff’s attack ahead of their relegation run-in, and is ‘ready to make a dramatic deadline-day move’.

The Tottenham manager, Mauricio Pochettino, has repeatedly insisted that Janssen has no future at the club.

Vincent Janssen of Tottenham Hotspur Under 23s

The Dutchman is reported to have cost Spurs £17 million from AZ Alkmaar two-and-a-half-years ago [the Sun], but has only scored six goals in 39 games for his current employers.

He made his last appearance for Tottenham’s first team in August 2017, shortly before his loan to Fenerbahce.

But the 24-year-old struggled in Turkey and has spent much of the current campaign out injured, although he has recently built up his fitness in Spurs’ Under-23s.

New loan signing Oumar Niasse No 29 of Cardiff City is unveiled on January 18, 2019 in Cardiff, Wales.

Cardiff have already added the former Everton forward, Oumar Niasse, to their squad this window.
