Leeds United are reportedly poised to sign Manchester United defender Cameron Borthwick-Jackson.

According to Sky Sports, Manchester United full back Cameron Borthwick-Jackson is undergoing a medical with Leeds United tonight ahead of a season-long loan move to Elland Road.

The Whites have added two defenders already this summer, with Vurnon Anita arriving on a free transfer to boost Thomas Christiansen’s options at right back, whilst Everton loanee Matthew Pennington has also joined to add depth at centre back.

Another Premier League defender now looks set to arrive on loan, with Sky Sports reporting that Manchester United’s Cameron Borthwick-Jackson has been undergoing a medical at Elland Road this evening.

The Whites saw Charlie Taylor leave for Burnley when his contract expired earlier this summer, and whilst Christiansen can call upon right-footed Gaetano Berardi, signing another naturally left-footed option is a smart move.

Borthwick-Jackson, 20, has come up through the ranks at Old Trafford, and impressed with a breakthrough campaign during the 2015-16 season under Louis van Gaal, making 14 first-team appearances in all competitions.

However, Jose Mourinho decided that Borthwick-Jackson wasn’t quite ready for a bigger role in the United squad last season, and shipped him out for what proved to be disastrous loan spell with Wolverhampton Wanderers.

The young left back played just seven times in all competition last season, as he failed to nail down a place in the Wolves side under either Walter Zenga or Paul Lambert, before heading back to United for pre-season.

Now, Borthwick-Jackson is heading out on loan again, and will hope for better fortunes at Leeds, where he looks set to challenge Berardi and Tyler Denton for a starting role in Christiansen’s side, though his arrival will come too late to feature against Bolton Wanderers.
