Southampton-linked Calum Chambers will reportedly leave Arsenal for Watford on a season-long loan deal in the summer transfer window.
Arsenal defender Calum Chambers is close to joining Watford, according to The Daily Mail.
It has been reported by the British newspaper that the 21-year-old will move to the Hornets on a season-long loan deal in the summer transfer window.
According to the report, Southampton have also been interested in securing the services of the youngster, who started his professional club football career at the Saints.
The Daily Mail has also claimed that Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger has Chambers in his long-term plans and is convinced that he will mature into a top-class central defender.
Chambers joined the Gunners from Southampton in the summer of 2014 for a transfer fee reported by BBC Sport to be around £16 million.
The England international is a promising young defender, but he has struggled for playing time at the Emirates Stadium.
During the 2014-15 campaign, the youngster played 23 times for Arsenal in the Premier League, scoring one goal and creating 11 chances in the process.
Chambers, who can play as a right-back or as a centre-back, played only 12 Premier League matches for the North London outfit this past season.
