Leeds United are reportedly closing in on striker Caleb Ekuban.

According to the Yorkshire Evening Post, Leeds United are edging towards signing striker Caleb Ekuban, with a medical set to be completed in the next 48 hours.

The Whites have already secured deals for Felix Wiedwald, Vurnon Anita, Mateusz Klich, Madger Gomes and Hadi Sacko, whilst a move for Huesca playmaker Samu Saiz will also go through this week.

Leeds aren’t done yet though, and one of the keys for new manager Thomas Christiansen is to find a new striker to support leading goalscorer Chris Wood, given that Marcus Antonsson and Souleymane Doukara offered little in the way of goals last season.

Now, the Yorkshire Evening Post report that a deal to sign Chievo striker Caleb Ekuban is on the verge of completion, and he will undergo a medical in the next 48 hours.

Ekuban, 23, joined the Chievo ranks in 2010, but has yet to even play for the Verona-based club, having been loaned out to Sudtirol, Lumezzane, Renate and, most recently, Partizani Tirana in Albania.

With 17 goals in 34 league games for Partizani, Ekuban impressed in Albania but Chievo are still deciding to sell him, with a deal with Leeds believed to be all but tied up.

In fact, the 6ft 2in striker has even taken to Instagram this evening (as shown above) to post a photo from Verona airport, showing that he is heading to Manchester, suggesting that his move to Leeds is drawing closer and closer.

Leeds fans may have been looking for somebody a little more proven that Ekuban as foil for Wood, but he has potential to tap into and scored goals last season, meaning he could be a diamond in the rough for the Whites and Christiansen.

Do you think Ekuban will be a good signing for Leeds?
