According to The Scottish Sun, Rangers defender Lee Wallace was stunned as manager Pedro Caixinha told him to stay away from Wednesday’s clash with Kilmarnock at Ibrox.

The Gers were in desperate need of a positive result on Wednesday, having lost their Scottish League Cup semi-final against Motherwell 2-0 on Sunday afternoon.

With the pressure mounting on manager Caixinha, he will have been buoyed by Jason Holt’s opening goal against Kilmarnock, as the midfielder smashed home from Alfredo Morelos’ pull back.

However, a dramatic last few minutes turned the game on its head. Eduardo Herrera won a penalty for the Gers, and before Daniel Candeias could even take the spot kick, Rangers midfielder Ryan Jack was sent off for clashing with Kilmarnock defender Kirk Broadfoot.

Candeias stepped up and had his penalty saved, with Kilmarnock heading down the other end to seal a last-gasp equaliser, with ex-Rangers winger Chris Burke pouncing at the back post to haunt his former club.

The pressure remains on manager Caixinha, and he allegedly stunned Gers defender Lee Wallace, with The Scottish Sun reporting that he told the full back to stay away from Ibrox for Wednesday’s clash.

Captain Wallace is currently recovering from a groin injury, and whilst he isn’t available for first-team action, he intended to head to Ibrox in order to support his teammates and watch the game.

However, it’s claimed that Caixinha told Wallace – as well as Kenny Miller and Niko Kranjcar – to stay away from Ibrox, and it’s unclear just why the Gers boss didn’t want any of them at the game, but it’s another perplexing decision from under-fire Caixinha.
