According to the Daily Record, Rangers manager Pedro Caixinha has been forced to re-think his pre-season plans aid unrest in the Ibrox camp.

The Gers lost 2-0 to Celtic in their Scottish Cup semi-final clash on Sunday afternoon, meaning that their season will now finish on the 21st of May.

A place in the Scottish Cup final would have seen Rangers finish a week later, but with no more commitments beyond the final day of the season clash with St. Johnstone, Caixinha will head into his first pre-season as Rangers boss in less than a month.

Now, the Daily Record report that Caixinha has told his Rangers players that they will be reporting for pre-season training on June 1st – giving the Gers squad just nine days off.

The Portuguese boss wants his players to get to grips with his approach and style of play in plenty of time for the Europa League qualifiers, which begin a full four weeks after the proposed start of Rangers’ pre-season training.

That lack of rest has allegedly angered many in the Rangers squad, having been given three weeks off last summer by Mark Warburton – even with the Scottish Cup final against Hibernian forcing the club’s season to end late.

Lee Wallace and Joe Garner allegedly have wedding plans that would be affected by Caixinha’s plans, but with unrest in the camp, Caixinha is now believed to be considering a change to his pre-season strategy, possibly giving the Rangers squad some more time off.

It’s added that Caixinha ripped into the Rangers squad at half time of Sunday’s defeat to Celtic, accusing players of deliberately ignoring his tactical instructions, meaning we could see a summer of change at Ibrox.
