Rangers boss Pedro Caixinha will be looking to bring new faces to Ibrox this summer.
Rangers boss Pedro Caixinha
According to AS, Rangers manager Pedro Caixinha is interested in reuniting with Santos Laguna defender Carlos Izquierdoz and Jose Abella.
Caixinha enjoyed a strong start to his stint as Rangers boss, going without defeat in his first five games in charge, but successive defeats to Old Firm rivals Celtic have taken some of the shine off his start.
The Portuguese boss has been shown the size of the task with last weekend’s 5-1 defeat to Celtic, and it seems that defensive reinforcements are on his wish list for the summer transfer window.
AS report that the Rangers boss wants to bring Santos Laguna duo Carlos Izquierdoz and Jose Abella to Ibrox, having worked with both players during his time in charge of the Mexican club.

Izquierdoz, 28, came up through the ranks with Lanus in his native Argentina, spending ten years with the club before moving on to join Caixinha at Santos Laguna in 2014, and the 6ft 1in centre back is known as one of the best defenders in Mexico.
Meanwhile, right back Abella is a product of the Santos Laguna youth setup, and the 23-year-old defender has made over 100 appearances for the club, offering pace and energy down the right hand side.

Both players featured prominently under Caixinha, and it’s believed that the Rangers boss is contemplating a concrete move to reunite with both players this summer.
A possible problem for Rangers is that both players have lengthy contracts with Santos Laguna, and chairman Dave King may have to dig deep to give Caixinha the chance to work with two of his former players again.
