Lazaar has failed to make an impact at Newcastle since joining in the summer of 2016.

Italian outlet TuttoMercatoWeb claim Serie A side Cagliari are looking to sign Newcastle United defender Achraf Lazaar before the end of the January transfer window.
The 27-year-old has failed to make any kind of impact at Newcastle since joining the club from Palermo in the summer of 2016 for a fee of £2.9million (Chronicle).
He has managed just 10 appearances for the Toon, before being ostracised by Rafa Benitez. Last season, the 17-time international went on loan to Benevento who were eventually relegated. He managed just nine outings.
Despite that, Serie A side Cagliari are interested in landing the left-sided flyer, who can play either on the left side of defence or indeed on the left of midfield.

Newcastle’s impending signing of Jordan Lukaku on loan from Lazio is likely to push Lazaar further down the pecking order at St. James’ Park and he is currently training with the club’s Under-23 side.
Six days remain in the January transfer window and it is clear to see that Lazaar has no future at Newcastle. Whether a deal can be secured for the defender remains to be seen.
