Crystal Palace midfielder Jordon Mutch is set to sign for Championship side Burton Albion, despite being linked with a move to Leeds United, according to The Mail (08:28).

The Sun reported last week that Leeds were in talks over a £2 million deal for Mutch.

However, The Mail’s report does not state whether Burton’s deal for the 25-year-old, who has two years left on his Palace contract, would be permanent or on loan.

Mutch could replace Jackson Irvine at the Pirelli Stadium, after the Australian completed a £2 million move to Hull City on Wednesday.

The Derby-born player signed for Crystal Palace in a £4.75 million deal in January 2015, but he has struggled to make a positive impression in that time and was loaned to Reading last season.

Should the move go ahead, Mutch could make his Burton debut against Leeds at Elland Road a week on Saturday.

A report in Thursday’s printed edition of The Mirror claims Palace missed out on the signing of Southampton midfielder Jordy Clasie, although this does not appear to affect Mutch’s future at Selhurst Park.
