Watford are signing Stoke City defender Darrin Enahoro on a free transfer after beating Premier League rivals Burnley to his signature, as reported by All Nigeria Soccer.
The Hornets have wasted no time in reinforcing a squad that, just four weeks ago, was celebrating a return to the promised land at the first time of asking.
Former West Ham and Manchester United striker Ashley Fletcher has been handed a third stab at the big time, while Watford also fought off interest from the likes of Celtic and Rangers for Rochdale wonderkid Kwadwo Baah.
And while Enahoro is unlikely to hog many headlines in Hertfordshire or beyond, the up-and-coming centre-half appears to have become the third new player to join the Vicarage Road outfit since 2020/21 came to an end.
All Nigeria Soccer reports Enahoro became available after being told he wouldn’t be offered a new contract at Stoke City.
Sean Dyche’s Burnley had taken the ball-playing defender on trial, as had Championship outfit Coventry City.
But Enahoro obviously feels his potential is more likely to be realised at Watford, despite Dyche’s excellent track record when it comes to getting the best out of his central defenders – from Michael Keane to James Tarkowski and Ben Mee.
Burnley have also taken Portadown pair Lee Bonis and George Tipton on trial, while goalkeeper Harry Moss has joined the Lancashire outfit.
